Nuclear plan to deputy governor in Murmansk

On May 14th, representatives of Gaia, Green World and Naturvernforbundet met with deputy governor of Murmansk oblast, Sergey Sobbotin, to present the concept of decommission plan that the NGOs have written together.

Last year Sobbotin participated in a study trip to Greifswald nuclear power plant, organized by the three NGOs. Greifswald nuclear power plant in Germany had the same type of reactor as Kola nuclear power plant has, but Greifswald’s reactors is now almost finished decommissioning.

Sobbotin also accepted an invitation for an international hearing on decommissioning of old nuclear reactors to be organized in October in Sosnovy Bor outside St.Petersburg, organized by the three NGOs.

During the visit to Murmansk, Naturvernforbundet also met with the Norwegian consul general in Murmansk, Rune Aasheim, to present the conception of decommissioning plan also for him.
